Shelby J. Owens, 66, of Zanesville, died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born October 26, 1944, a daughter of the late Ellis and Verna Whitehouse Robinson. She was a retired assembler for Lear Corp. She was a member of the American Legion Post #29 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting, fishing and spending time with her family and was a Methodist by faith. Surviving are a daughter, Tamara (Brent) Orwig of Zanesville; a sister, Melba (Gail) Ledebur of Arizona; a brother, Robert Robinson of Roseville; two grandchildren, Dakota Mettler and Hunter Orwig, both of Zanesville; several nieces and nephews; a loving companion, Ellis Burkhart of Zanesville; and a special friend, Orleta McCullough. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Owens, who died January 31, 1997; and a brother, Donald Robinson. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor John Edwards officiating.
