Shirley Kathleen Joseph

April 30, 1936 — September 29, 2017

Shirley Kathleen Joseph (Wise) My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever - Psalms 73:26 Our beloved mother Shirley went to the Lord September 29, 2017 at the Morrison House of Genesis Hospice. She was born in Ravenna, Ohio April 30, 1936 and moved to Zanesville as a teenager. She married Dave Joseph Sr. of Zanesville in February of 1956. Shirley and Dave established the Union Bar, a local tavern and restaurant that flourished for over 50 years. Shirley also started her own business, Acorn Natural Foods in 1995 and retired after 22 successful years. She was also a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She is preceded in passing by her beloved husband Dave Joseph Sr., and is survived by her sons Christopher, Michael and David Jr., her grandchildren Emily, Jordan, and Michael Jr., and her brother George Wise of Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in and around the Zanesville area. Shirley was dearly loved by everyone in her extended family, and she will be missed by her many friends. As Shirley was dedicated to animal rescue we ask that, in lieu of flowers, friends make a donation to the Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville in her name. A Memorial Mass in her honor will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. with Fr. Jan C.P. Sullivan as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted by Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home. Inurnment Following Service: East Pike Zanesville, OH 43701 Tuesday October 3, 2017 Mt. Olive Cemetery
