Shizuko F (Fukuda) Marshall

March 7, 1922 — May 27, 2010

Mrs. Shizuko (Suzi) F. Marshall, 88, a long-time resident of Zanesville, died peacefully at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at her home. She was born in 1922, in Kyoto, Japan, a daughter of the late Sanziro and Yasuyo Iwata Fukuda. She later attended college in Kyoto, Japan, where she was a tennis champion and received many trophies. She was qualified to play the Koto, which she loved very much. Suzi worked at the Robert Hall store and was a retired area supervisor for the State of Ohio's Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) Green Thumb. She also worked with her husband, Glen, doing private investigations and was the Ohio State Fire Marshall. Her cousins, Takeo Fukuda and Yasuo Fukuda served as Prime Ministers of Japan. Suzi was a beautiful person who lived for her family and was dedicated to helping them with anything. She loved going shopping and going out to eat. She was very loyal and is greatly missed. Surviving is a daughter, Sheila Marshall of Zanesville; a son, Jay Marshall of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Jon-Paul, Stephan, Dylan, Jayda and Jessica; a brother, Takeshi Fukuda of Los Angeles, California; her faithful guard dog, Boris; her dog, Snoop; and cat, Nemo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Edward Marshall, who served as the Zanesville Welfare Director and who died in 1966; her son, Ronnie Shinya Marshall, who died in 1972; a sister, Hideko Fukuda; and a brother, Tsuyoshi Fukuda. No calling hours will be observed. A dignified cremation has taken place. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville has been entrusted with all arrangements. Send a note of condolence or a sympathy card to the family at 2955 N Linden Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701 or to www.bolin-dierkesfuneralhome.com. Hold on to what is good, Even if it is a handful of earth. Hold on to what you believe in, Even if it is a tree Which stands by itself. Hold on to what you must do, Even if it is a long way from here. Hold on to life, Even if it is easier to let go. Hold on to my hand Even when I have gone away. We love you, Nana.
