June 2, 1920 — June 12, 2007

Sidney Fish, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Cambridge, OH and Cleveland, OH, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 after an extended illness. As a teenager, Mr. Fish worked as a brick layer in his father's construction business in Cleveland until he enlisted in the US Army in 1942. Following his discharge in 1945, he married his beloved Sara Mae Rogovin and moved to her hometown of Cambridge, OH, where he took over Cambridge Iron and Metal Corp., a scrap metal recycling firm. He and Sara had three children, Robert, Barry, and Larry. Sidney was active in Temple Beth Abraham, serving as financial secretary. He also served on the Boards of the YMCA and Mental Retardation and was active in the Elks and Masonic Lodge, attaining 32nd degree status. A consummate sportsman, Sidney was an avid golfer and an accomplished billiard player. He was also a devoted bridge player, earning Masters points in several tournaments. His first love, however, was his family. His greatest pleasure was being with his children, and later, grandchildren. He delighted in their challenges and accomplishments and was always there to offer guidance and encouragement. Sidney will be most fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his joy in the Yiddish language, his real world insight and intelligence and his courage and determination in the face of adversity. Sidney is survived by his sons Bob, a dentist and attorney in Parkland, FL, and Larry, an ophthalmologist in Springfield, OH; their wives, Lana and Kim, and grandchildren Evan, Lauren, and David. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sara; middle son Barry; his parents, Bessie and Barnett Fish; two brothers Eddie and David Fish and sister Dena Greenbaum. A memorial service will be held at Temple Beth Abraham, 1740 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, OH at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2007 with Rabbi Jeffrey Elson officiating. Burial will follow at Beth Abraham Cemetery.
