Suzanne B. “Sue” Brauning, 87, of Nashport, died at 3:15 P.M. Thursday, August 19, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 14, 1934 in Falls View, WV, a daughter of the late Horace and Mildrid Fadum Brown. Sue was a graduate of Mather College, Case Western University where she graduated with a degree in radio and television production. She was a member of Immanuel Church of Downtown Zanesville and participated in Mercy Meal, Neighborhood Meal. She loved music, reading, gardening, bird watching and volunteering at Bethesda Hospital, Tri-Valley H.S., Sun ‘n Fun Air Show, and the EAA Oshkosh Air Adventure. Sue was a member of The Junior Assembly at Bethesda Hospital, Beaux Arts, and the Green Thumb Garden Club. In addition, Sue was an award winning Volunteer Coordinator at Tri-Valley High School, and at the Oshkosh Air Adventure as well as her service as the Head of Hospitality. However, Sue’s most honorable job was being a wife and mother who cherished family trips and gatherings especially at Christmastime.
Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Dr. Donald R. Brauning, whom she married February 4, 1956; two daughters, Melanie B. (Dr. Ronald) Stas and Marcye J. (Timothy) Van Dyke and a son, Darby ( Laura Coblentz) Brauning; daughter-in-law, Sarah E. Brauning; grandchildren, Ronald J. ( Mary) Stas, Andrew M. ( Julia) Stas, Timothy Dane (Audrey Abel) Van Dyke, Nathaniel M. (Rachel Painter) Stas, Carly S. (Javier) Hernandez, Helen E. Brauning, Samuel A. Brauning, Hope T. (Benjamin) Tinholt, Ethan B. Stas, Peter C. Brauning, Ian C. Brauning, Ella M. Brauning and Quinn R. Brauning; and great grandchildren, Linnea J. Stas, Barron B. Stas, Helen E. Stas and Thatcher C. Stas ; a sister,Eleanor “Pidge” Rushand several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Dr. Christopher B. Brauning and a brother, Banks K. Brown.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. till time of celebration of life service at 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 23, 2021 at Immanuel Church of Downtown, 105 South 7th Street, Zanesville with Dr. Donna Edsell officiating. She will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville at a later date.
