Rowenta Steam Irons lost a loyal customer on June 7, 2017. Suzanne Martin passed, after an amazing life, with family and friends by her side. She was quick to let you know how things were and that spunk was with her until her final breath. Suzanne never met a stranger, that generosity and love is apparent in the lives she touched. Suzanne was born on July 12, 1932 to Daniel and Clara (Sharrock) Smith of Zanesville, Ohio. She was one of 5 children, the only girl. Suzanne was a graduate of Lash High School class of 1949. After school, she was employed at Jack Hemmers Ice Cream (Currently known as Toms Ice Cream Bowl), and Murphys Oil Soap as an independent sales consultant amongst other places. Ultimately, her calling was being a wife, mom and grandmother, at which she excelled. She married her soul mate, James R. Martin on December 1, 1950 and together they raised three angelic daughters, Nancy, Becky and Elizabeth who gave them the gift of perfect grandchildren. Now, the topic of which grandson was most loved has been hotly contested over the years, but truth is she loved each one to the moon and back. You need look no further than her presence at sporting and social events, with smiles and cookies, as proof of her undying love for her boys. She is survived in death by daughters, Nancy Chappelear of Zanesville, Ohio, Becky Martin of Charlottesville, Virginia, Elizabeth (Mark) Graham of Zanesville, Ohio and special daughter Donna Kirby of Zanesville, Ohio. Grandsons Matthew Chappelear of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Mark Chappelear of Zanesville, Ohio, Lucas Graham (Fianc Rachel Nash) of Toledo, Ohio, Logan Graham of Zanesville, Ohio and special grandson Alan (Amanda) Jones of San Diego, California. Brother Daniel (Betty) Smith of Punta Gorda, Florida, many nieces and nephews including Sandy Morehead of New Albany, Ohio along with special friends including the fine people of Coca Cola who supplied her favorite beverage for over the 70 years. Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Clara Smith, brothers Richard Dick Smith, Louis Pon Smith, James Smith, son in law William Golden Boy Chappelear, and her one and only true love James R. Martin. A celebration of life will be held at First Christian Church on Saturday June 10th. Friends and family may call at 10:00 am until services begin at 11:00. A Cremation-With-Care has taken place. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Suzannes name to First Christian Church (3000 Dresden Rd, Zanesville, OH 43701) and/or the Denison University Football Program (100 West College Street, Granville, OH 43023 attn: Jack Hatem).
