Sylvia 'Syl' Jean Burchett

Sylvia Jean Syl Burchett, 72, of Zanesville, a fiercely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend was asked to rest from her life long dedication of loving, helping, and bringing joy and hope to others on December 12, 2016 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center after a short illness of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Sylvia (Syl) was born on May 20, 1944 in Zanesville, daughter of the late Earl and Delores Mitchell Dunn. Syl was known by many titles and adored each and everyone. She answered to each with heart felt pride and a genuinely beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eye that only she could express. Some of the many names she felt honored to be known by were Honey, Grandmaw, Granny, Mom, Momma, Aunt Tilvey, and others kept private and held dear between the two. Sylvia absolutely lived life to the fullest. Walking into a room with her, you immediately understood that she was known by everyone. Gran never met a stranger and you never left without getting a big hug from her. She celebrated life always and we know she is already making new friends in heaven. Sylvia was unique, she was amazing, she was funny, and was loved by all who knew her. Gran was a loving person with a huge heart who always saw the best in everyone. She truly touched all who knew her. Gran, we love you to the moon and back. Syl is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 41 years, Larry Burchett; her mother-in-law Joyce Burchett; her daughter Rhonda (Jones) Heskett; her daughter-in-law Rosa (Bruce) Jones; grandchildren, Caden Heskett, Shantelle Jones (Mike) Kirsch, Jeremy (Deanna) Fouch, Hayley (Quay) DeVoll; great-grandchildren Haiden Fouch and Weston Fouch; her brother Rick (Kathy) Dunn; nephews Chad (Carrie) Dunn, Scott (Molly) Dunn, Courtney (Brian) Lemity; many great nieces and nephews that she held near and dear to her heart; and so many friends that she loved and who loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randall Jones, and father-in-law Charles Burchett. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 Thursday December 15, 2016 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, Zanesville, where funeral services will be held Friday December 16, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with her grandson Caden Heskett officiating.
