Sylvia D. Shuey

Sylvia D. Shuey, 98, of Zanesville, died at 6:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at her residence. She was born December 30, 1909, in Hopewell Township, Ohio, a daughter of the late George William and Minnie A. Dodd Miller. She retired in 1979 as an officer in charge and clerk for the United States Post Office in Hopewell and she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Timber Run Grange and Farm Bureau. Surviving are a grandson, Scott (Susan) Mathes of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Sheri (Bryan) Lewis and Gina (Andy) Stotts, both of Zanesville; 7 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Alayna Mathes, Shanelle, Brady and Curtis Lewis and Shelby and Reagan Stotts; a niece, Shirley Miller Moore of Tucson, Arizona and two nephew, Richard Miller of Zanesville and Earl Richardson Sr. of Newark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Shuey, who died February 24, 2008; two daughters, Grace E. Stillion and Jeanette Mathes; three sisters, Daisey Alexander, Minnie Sabian and Wilma McCune; three brothers, John, Raymond and Edmond Miller. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Reginald Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
