Thelma Louise (Risen) Fox

Thelma Louise Risen Fox, 96, of Zanesville, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at Forest View Health Campus. She was born October 31, 1915 in Zanesville, a daughter to the late Edgar and Jane Young Risen. Thelma graduated from Lash High School in 1933, and she married Bill Fox in December of 1933. She worked as a credit clerk for Spiegel's Catalog Store in Zanesville until her husband was transferred to Washington, PA in 1958. She was a lifelong member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church, and was an active member of Wide Awake Class until Bill's transfer to Washington, PA. His last transfer was to Clarksburg, WV, which lasted 14 years, and while living there Thelma was a volunteer at the Y.W.C.A. After Bill's retirement in 1978, they returned to Zanesville. For over 20 years, Thelma was a member of Senior Citizens Club No.1. Together, she and Bill enjoyed a winter home in Florida for more than 20 years. Thelma was a person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She wants her friends and family to remember all the good times they had together. Surviving are three grandsons, Warren K. (Julia) Fox of Solana Beach, CA, Clark L. (Diane) Fox of Lakewood, CO, and Jonathan D. Fox of Thailand; two great granddaughters, Olivia J. and Annalise Fox, both of Solana Beach, CA; a daughter-in-law, Janet L. Fox of Worthington, OH; two nieces, Carol (Robert) Wilson and Cheryl (Denny) Barlow; two nephews, Chris Morrow of Zanesville and Keith Morrow of Baltimore, OH; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Bill, in 2007; her son Donald K. Fox, 1996; three sisters, June E. Risen, 1936, Ruth E. King, 1987, and Mary Jane Morrow, 2003; a brother, Robert E. Risen, 2011; nieces, Alice Bonifant, Lucille Allen, and Elizabeth Fenton; and nephews, Robert L. and Kenneth King. Friends and family of Thelma may call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, August 27, 2012 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, and one hour prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the funeral home, with Rev. Tom England officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bill, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
