Thelma Jean Payton, 83, of New Concord, went to be with her Lord at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Beckett House in New Concord. She was born May 22, 1924, in Norwich, Ohio, a daughter of the late Samuel Spencer and Myrtle Gay Dye Galloway. Thelma was a member of the New Concord Church of Christ. Surviving are a son, Samuel P. (Alice) Kimbrell of Colorado; a daughter, Kathy Jean (Raymond) Linden of Frazeysburg; a sister, Dorothy J. Kennedy of Columbus; two brothers, Raymond (Peggy) Galloway of Loudon, Tennessee and Delbert (Frances) Brock of Zanesville; special friends, Chic Pressdee, Bill and Donna Waltz; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren and all of the wonderful folks at the Beckett House. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Kimbrell; her second husband, Eugene V. Payton, who died March 28, 1988; a son, Stephen M. Payton, who died May 7, 1997 and a brother, Wilbur Galloway. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with the Rev. Richard Harris officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora, Ohio.
