Thelma L. Rose, 93, of Zanesville, died at October 19, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. at Cedar Hill Care Center following a lengthy illness. Thelma was born June 13, 1920 on a farm in Guernsey County, Ohio a daughter of the late Homer and Merip Wharton Grubbs. Thelma attended high school in Cambridge, OH. She later moved to Zanesville in 1938 to attend Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing. She became a Registered Nurse in 1941 and continued to work full or part time as an RN until 1990. Thelma also worked at the family business, Rose Furniture Company. Thelma enjoyed travel, music, reading, sewing and quilting. She was a member of the Y-City Quilters Guild and did volunteer work for the Zanesville Art Institute. She was a member of First Christian Church in Zanesville. Surviving are a daughter, Penny (Drury Fenton) Rose of Tulsa, OK; a son, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Rose of Zanesville; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Rose who died in 1982; a brother, Homer Grubbs Jr. and a sister, Stella Dehart. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 24, 2013, with calling two hours prior. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Crematory, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701 is entrusted with all arrangements.
