Thelma M. Swope, 93, of Zanesville, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2005 at the Adams Lane Care Center following an extended illness. She was born on March 4, 1912 in Crooksville to her late parents Edward & Effie (Wilson) Hiles. She is survived by two sons, Russell E. (Marilyn) Swope and Ronald (Ruth) Swope of Zanesville; a daughter, Margaret McConnell of Zanesville; seven grandchildren, Randy Swope, Traci Hittle, Steven McConnell, James McConnell, Beth Barnes, Scott McConnell, and Christa Williamson; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Thelma in death, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Russell E. Swope; an infant daughter, Sandra K. Swope; and two brothers, Lloyd Hiles and Max Hiles. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2005 with Rev. Wes Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
