Theodore "Ted" W. Dixon

October 16, 1925 — January 3, 2018

Theodore Ted W. Dixon, 92, passed away on January 3, 2018, under the care of Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville. He was born October 16, 1925, a son of Roy A. and Christena May Dixon. Military service was in the Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate Second Class during World War II. Following discharge, he worked his way up from apprentice carpenter to construction superintendent on several local large jobs through Carpenters Local 356. He was a member of what is now Immanuel Church Downtown Zanesville. Ted was a member of Irville Lodge #184 and held several positions within the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Cambridge, achieving the honor of 33rd degree Mason in 1983. He is survived by daughter-in-law, Carol; granddaughters Laura (Jared) Crotwell and Lisa (Clinton) Bates; one great-grandson; two great-granddaughters; as well as brothers Raymond (Marjorie) and Russell (Hattie) Dixon; a sister Lorinne Rickett; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; a son Roger; a daughter Cynthia; brothers Roy and Robert; as well as sisters Roberta and two-year-old Christena. Calling hours will be from 2:00 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Masonic Services to be held at 5:45 P.M. by Irville Lodge #184 F & AM. Funeral services will be held at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 8, 2018, with Pastor Mitch Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Union Cemetery, White Cottage with full Military Honors being accorded to him by the United States Navy in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
