Thomas Vance Dick, 59 of Zanesville died at 6:23 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Genesis Hospital. He was born July 17, 1956 in Zanesville to the late Vance (Stu) and Hazel Moore Dick. Thomas retired from AT&T as a Communications Specialist after 38 ½ years of service. Surviving are two daughters, Merrideth (Ben) Fussell of San Augustine, TX; Caitlyn (Ryan) Sowers of Zanesville; grandchildren, Cooper Fussell, Avery Sowers, Kutter Fussell, Gavin Sowers, brother, John (Beverly) Dick of Zanesville, sister, Connie (Carl) Coleman of Philo, niece Carson Coleman of Philo, nephew, Jason (Karina) Dick of Westerville; niece, Lori (Thomas) Crowley of Zanesville; fiancée, Sandy Raines, her son David (Colleen) Houston and children Cecily, Rosily and David Jr. He loved his loyal animals, Sheena, Buster, Leo, Butters, and Coal. He had many friends who also blessed his life. Tom was a 1974 graduate of Zanesville High School. He was named First team All-COL and honorable mention All-Ohio in 1973 as offensive football guard. He served as Treasurer and Vice-President of Communications Workers of America local #4321. As an avid fisherman and hunter, Tom always looked forward to fishing and hunting trips with close friends, Steve Drierer, Steve Lattimer, Doug Reynolds, Kevin Kenily, Ralph Hummel, his brother, John, nephew Jason, and brother-in-law Sonny. He could always be found at Kroger's getting rainchecks or at Speedway buying coffee for everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and he was always one to help anybody who needed it, including a stranger. He was a proud organ donor. Visitation will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, in Zanesville, where funeral services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Vickie Kumorowski officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. Friends wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers may do so to Animal Shelter Society at 1430 Newark Rd. in Zanesville or Genesis Hospice-Morrison House at 713 Forest Ave. in Zanesville.
