Thomas Payne “Tommy” Balderson, 56, of Zanesville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Genesis Hospital emergency room, Zanesville. He was born January 20, 1965, in Zanesville, a son of William N. and Katherine Payne Balderson. He graduated from Franklin University with a BA in Business Administration. Tommy was Co-Owner of Balderson Motors for twenty-eight years then was employed as a sales representative for Buckeye Tire. He was a member of Hubbard Lodge #220 F&AM, twenty-five year member of Amrou Grotto, lifetime member of NRA, Republican Club, a former member of Zane State Foundation Board and enjoyed working with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Tommy was a Methodist by faith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by loving companion, Tamara Powell, and her children Adam (Emily) Powell, Austin (Lesley) Powell, and Abby (Adam) Davenport; a brother, U.S. Congressman William Troy (Melanie Straker Coyle) Balderson; a nephew, William Joshua (Chelsea) Balderson; and two aunts, Barbara Peterson and Cheryl Balderson.
He is preceded in death by two uncles, James R. Balderson and Colonel Thomas J. Payne; and an aunt, Joan Gatewood.
Friends and family may call from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center, 1500 Newark Road, Zanesville Ohio 43701.
The family requests that self-provided face masks be worn and social distancing be observed during the calling hours and funeral service.
