Velma M. Stevens, 76, of Zanesville died at 5:43 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2005 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 5, 1929 in Moatsville, WV., a daughter of the late Clarence and Hallie Smith Mayle. She was a homemaker and was a member of Church of God Gods Acres in Newark. She is survived by her husband, Samuel V. Stevens of Zanesville, four daughters, Linda ( Eldon ) Stevens, Beth ( Delbert ) Stevens, Kimberly ( Toni ) Anderson all of Zanesville and Aranya (Albert ) Jamison McCoy of Columbus, two sons, Vernon ( Naomi ) Stevens and Martin Stevens both of Zanesville, two sisters, Elda Fowler and Louise Williams both of Zanesville, a brother, Emmet Mayle of Baltimore, Ohio, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2005 with Pastor Roger Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville.
