Verna E. Ford, 88, of Zanesville died at 1:50 a.m. April 29, 2004 at Willow Haven Nursing Home. She was born October 23, 1915 to the late Thomas K. and Merita Shinn Thompson. She retired from the housekeeping department at Bethesda Hospital. She was a member at Coburn United Methodist Church and was part of the Mildred Butler Circle. She was an avid bowler. She also enjoyed life, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She is survived by one son; Jim (Bonnie) Ford, of Zanesville. Five grandchildren; Chris Newton and special friend Dennis Woods, David (Megan) Neal II, Kelly Knox, Brian Neal, and Scott (Julie) Ford. Ten great- grandchildren; Erin Greer, Ricky Newton Jr., Dustin Newton, Stephen Knox Jr., Lynn Knox, Brock Neal, Megan Neal, Cole Ford, Nicholas Ford, and Clayton Neal. One great- great grandchild Mykalia Greer. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers; Charles Thompson, Earl Daugherty, and John Daughtery, a granddaughter in-law; Violet Neal, and a special niece; Betty Eagleton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, with Rev. Terry D. Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
