Vernon J. Mcconnell

Vernon J. "Jim" McConnell, 69, of Zanesville, died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care. Vernon was born November 29, 1938, in Zanesville, the son of the late Willard and Matilda Mehling McConnell. He was a former welder for Racine Hydrolics in Zanesville. Surviving are a daughter, Audrey (Kevin) Martin of Nashport; two sons, Randy (Elizabeth) McConnell of Nashport and Terry McConnell of Zanesville; a brother, Chuck McConnell of Roseville; a spiritual partner, Juanita McDonald and family; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Kennedy McConnell and a brother, William Schaffer. Calling hours will be held 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the South Zanesville United Methodist Church, 53 E Main St. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the church with the Rev. Joy French officiating. Burial will follow at Crooksville Cemetery.
