Vernon G. Stevens, 66, of Zanesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:45 P.M. on Monday, July 28, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 8, 1948, in Zanesville, a son of the late Samuel V. and Velma M. Mayle Stevens. He had started work as a concrete finisher, had worked for Columbia Portland Cement, and later for Six County, and was a member of the Church of God-God's Acres, in Newark. Surviving are his wife Rhonda N. Mayle Stevens, whom he married May 14, 2007, of the home; a son Charles Hill of California; a step-son Brad Newell of Zanesville; three sisters, Linda (Eldon) Stevens of Reynoldsburg, Beth Stevens of Zanesville, and Kimberly (Toni) Anderson of Zanesville; a brother Martin (Charity) Stevens of Zanesville; four grandchildren; and a very special friend, his dog Marley. Friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 1, 2014, with Pastor Roger Decker officiating. He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville.
