Violet M. Kennedy, 90, of Zanesville, died at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 18, 1918, in Philippi, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Artennis and Virgie Miner Mayle. She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. Surving are three daughters, JoAnn (Gene) Gill of Zanesville, Delores Jean (Terry) Garrett of Duncan Falls and Velma Miller of Zanesville; three sons, Fred (Roz) Kennedy, Daniel (Janet) Kennedy and Timothy (Amy) Kennedy, all of Zanesville; 22 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Eudy of Canton and Emma Jean Abbott of Zanesville; and a brother, Jim (Sandy) Mayle of Canton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Kennedy Sr., four sons, Gerald Lee Kennedy, Donald Eugene Kennedy, Jeffrey Kennedy and Benjamin Franklin Kennedy Jr.; a grandson, Kevin Miller; three brothers, Norman, Thurman and Robert Mayle; and two sisters, Audrey Kennedy and Madeline Newman. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville.
