Virginia B. (Shrider) Holbein, age 89, of Zanesville, passed away at 4:50 a.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born October 15, 1916 in White Cottage, she attended grade school in White Cottage and graduated from Lash High School in Zanesville, OH in 1935. She married Elmer Holbein, August 26, 1936. She was an active volunteer: 4-H advisor, United Way, Falls Firemaids, West Muskingum Schools and Timber Run Grange. She was a West Muskingum School bus driver for 26 years and then transportation supervisor until her retirement at age 72. She was a member of the White Cottage Church of the Brethren and later Finley United Methodist Church. She was active in the family farm operation all of her married life. Surviving are her seven children: Dorothy (Phil) Mills, Helen Parker, Clarence (Sandy) Holbein, Ruth Goyne, John (Martha) Holbein, Martha Holbein and Robert (Karen) Holbein; grandchildren: Janelle (Jim) Peadon, Jeanne (Donavon) Campbell, Robert Glenn (Jennifer) Parker, Holly (Steve) Wahl, Suzy (Terry) Every, Lora Parker, Tom (Stefany) Holbein, Brian (Anna Hewitt) Holbein, Jennifer (Scott) Bryan, Julie (Jason Bucci) Holbein, Matt Holbein, Kyle Holbein and Katie Holbein; great grandchildren: Aubrey, Lauren and Shelby Peadon, Mallory, Joel and Ryan Campbell, Brad, Amanda and Ashley Parker, Parker Wahl, Brandon, Amber, Kevin and Austin Every, Lakin Parker, Stefan Holbein and Melanie and Lane Bryan; step- grandchildren: Springer and Brett Goyne, Angie Keiffer Roberts, Matt Keiffer and Carly Hewitt; step great-grandchildren: Briana Roberts, Bridgette, Caroline and Olivia Goyne, Brady and Stella Goyne and Morgen Hewitt Holbein; one brother, Paul (Violet) Shrider of West Manchester, Ind and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Holbein in 2001 and her great grandson, Robert Glenn (Robby) Parker II in July 2005. Also preceded in death by her parents Frank and Florence (Holtz) Shrider, two sisters Mareta Gerdes and Mabel Stryker and a brother, Emerson Shrider. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, OH where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2006 with Pastor Chuck Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park.
