Virginia (Kennedy) Newman

Virginia Newman, 88, of Philo, went to be with the Lord at 4:55 P.M. on Monday, February 19, 2018, at her sons home. She was born November 8, 1929 in Grafton, WV, a daughter of the late Ellis and Alma Croston Kennedy. Virginia was a homemaker and previously worked at Essex Wire. She is survived by four daughters, Dianna Baum, Esther (Kenneth) Avery, Sheila (Dennis) Hood, and Sharon (Denny) Adams; a son, Rev. Terry D. (Laura) Newman; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and three sisters, Rowena Kennedy, Rozena Crum, and Rosetta Weaver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Newman, whom she married December 4, 1948 and who died in September 15, 2007 a grandson, Kenneth D. Avery, Jr. and a son-in-law Rev. Charles Baum. Friends and family may call from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Union Tabernacle Church, 2433 Hartford Avenue, Zanesville, and one hour prior to funeral services which will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 23, 2018, with her son, Rev. Terry D. Newman officiating. She will be laid to rest at Duncan Falls Cemetery, Duncan Falls.
