Virginia M. Smith, 78, of Zanesville, died at 12:20 A.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born November 12, 1934, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late George and Ella Mae Jenkins Davis. She was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ, and she loved to play euchre. Virginia was a wonderful mother and grandmother who made everyone feel welcome upon entering her home, especially by feeding them. Surviving are a daughter Debbie Smith of Zanesville; a granddaughter Jennifer (Ethan) Heiney of Roseville; two great grandchildren, Claire and Charlie Heiney; a sister Edith Bowers of Zanesville; a brother Charles (Janice) Davis of Zanesville; many nieces and nephews including a special nephew Bruce Chema of Zanesville; a brother-in-law Bill (Susie) Smith of White Cottage; her faithful companion Princee; and her loving South Zanesville K-Mart family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Smith, whom she married March 28, 1953, and who died June 26, 1995; a son, Charles E. Smith Jr.; six sisters Bernice Wright, Wilda Chema, Eileen Mohr, Annie Sims, Emma Hagan, and Marian Clossen; a brother George Robin Davis; and two furry friends, Bounce and Lang. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 3, 2013. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Charles at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. The family wishes to thank Jessie Jones for all the care and concern she has given Virginia over the last year.
