Ward Bichard, 85, of Zanesville, formally of McGlade School Road, Dresden, died at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born January 8, 1920 in Guernsey County, Ohio the son of the late Harry and Lula Milligan Bichard. Mr. Bichard was self employed as a farmer and was a school bus driver for 20 years for the Tri-Valley Local School District. He was a Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW Post 11072 Dresden, a member of the Richvale Grange #1717, a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, a member of the Crusaders Class and also a member of the National Farmers Organization. Surviving are his wife, Leona Nolan Bichard, whom he married May 28 1955, a daughter, Patricia Bichard of Dresden; two brothers, Ralph (Doris) Bichard of Winterset and Homer (Peggy) Bichard of Spartanburg, SC; a sister Mildred Reed of Kenton; two sister-in-laws, Eileen Bagent of South Zanesville and Juanita Bichard of Winterset; a granddaughter, Ashley (Arron Kemp) Combs of Dresden; a grandson, Jacob R. McKee of Dresden; two great-grandsons, Michael Combs and Xavier Kemp; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Bichard, a nephew, Carl Ray Bichard, and three brother-in-laws, Roy Reed, Howard Bagent, and Loren Nolan. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2005 at the funeral home with Dr. Richard Boyer officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Rt 22, Center, Ohio. VFW Guernsey County Veterans Council will hold military services at the gravesite.
