Wayne W. Phillips, 100, passed away Friday November 2nd at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville, Ohio. Mr. Phillips was born in Bellevue, Ohio, July 27, 1912, the son of Carl and Blanche Phillips. He married Iverna M. Sherman December 23, 1939. He was a graduate of Bellevue High School and Bowling Green State University. He was a high school industrial arts teacher and principal in Sycamore and Willard, Ohio. He retired as purchasing agent for the Klein Steel Company of Bellevue. He was an avid golfer still playing when he was 99 years old. He was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, the Bellevue Masonic Lodge and was a thirty-second degree Mason. He is survived by his son, Wayne (Linda) Phillips, II, of Zanesville; his four grandchildren: twin granddaughters, Kathryn (Jason) Phillips-Yun of Westerville, and Sara Jo (Joseph) Phillips-Murphy of Zanesville; grandson, Christopher (Michelle) Harlan of Ashburn Farms, Virginia; and granddaughter, Dr. Julia Harlan of Iowa City, Iowa. Also surviving are four great granddaughters, Miley and Bella Jo Murphy and Samantha and Laura Harlan. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Phillips, a sister, Helen Fox, a daughter-in-law, Ann Phillips, and his wife, Iverna who passed away September 24, 2003. Mr. Phillips was buried in Bellevue Cemetery at a family graveside service on November 7, 2012.
