Wilbur LeRoy "Roy" Gregg, 83, of Zanesville, died at 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital at Good Samaritan. He was born on October 27, 1929 in Belmont, OH to the late Wilbur I. and Lucile W. Adams Gregg. Roy graduated from St. Clairsville High School and Muskingum College. He taught history for 37 years at Zanesville City Schools, mostly at Hancock Jr. High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Roy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Roy also spent his time as a volunteer for Genesis at Bethesda Hospital. Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirley Squibb Gregg, whom he married on November 27, 1957; two daughters, Wendy (Bill) Cochran of Cambridge and Debbie( Nick) Janakiefski of Cincinnati; two granddaughters, Kelly and Laura Janakiefski; a brother-in-law, Charles Gouyd; one niece and three nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Gouyd. Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Steve McGuire officiating. Roy will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery where the United States Navy will hold military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 516 Shinnick Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
