William R. (Bill) Agin was called home to the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville after a brief illness. He was born October 22, 1929, in Zanesville, a son of the late Mary Ruth (Toland) Agin and Roy E. Agin. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served fifty-three years on the Muskingum County Fair Board. He was a past Post Commander of the VFW Post 1058 and led their Honor Guard for many years. He was also a member of the Zanesville American Legion. Bill retired from Owens-Illinois as plant manager in 1988 and enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. He was an avid bowler, golfer, and bargain hunter. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge Amity #5 F&AM, Springfield Lions Club, and Beagle Club.
He was married to I. Illene (Corbin) Agin on October 22, 1955, and preceded him in death on September 14, 1997.
He leaves to mourn his passing, daughter, Kimberly Agin, grandsons Ted (Ashley) Pickrell and Troy Pickrell, great-grandchildren, Lauren and Cade Pickrell Emersyn Pickrell; also daughters Beverly Weidig, Melanie Ward, daughter-in-law, JoAnne Stemm, (their children and grandchildren); a large extended family; sister, Diane Agin (Staley); and his special friends, Marty Ullman, and Carroll and Brenda Fink.
He was preceded in death by a son, Fred Stemm; son-in-law, Larry Weidig; sibligs, Freda Hupp, Shirley Hill, and Roy J. Agin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to Meadow Farm Church, 6015 Coopermill Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
Friends and family may call from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Masonic Services being held at 7:30 P.M. Calling hours will also take place one hour prior to funeral services at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Meadow Farm Church, 6015 Coopermill Road, Zanesville with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville where full Military Honors will be accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
