William Ellis Dickson, 96, of Zanesville, died at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 18, 2015, at The Oaks at Bethesda. He was born December 5, 1918, in Brownsville, a son of the late Orris S. and Annette Tusing Dickson. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, and retired from Armco Steel after 41 years of service. Surviving are a son David (Sandra) Dickson of Pickerington; three daughters, Linda Godby of Zanesville, Karen (Phil) Shank of Westerville, and Susan (Lynda Lebel) Bass of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Pam (Mike) Bellish, Suzy Lipecky, Mike (Wendy) Dickson, Jason Godby, and Carolyn Shank; nine great grandchildren; and a brother Gordon C. Dickson of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Frances Crossland Dickson, who died March 12, 2010; a grandson Mark Dickson; a son-in-law Fred Godby; two brothers, Robert Dickson and Paul Dickson; and three sisters, Elizabeth Clagett, Lucille Porter, and Eligene Buchanan. Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Mildred at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058.
