William "Ken" Hickman

William Kenneth "Ken" Hickman Sr., 92, of Zanesville, died at 11:33 A.M. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born November 6, 1922 in Monroe, MO to the late Homer Dee and Jeanette Adams Hickman. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a U.S. Marine Veteran, member of the Charity Newsies, worked on the railroad, was a supervisor at Quick Shop. Manager of H&R Block and had worked for BP Gas Station on the East Pike and Forest Avenue. Surviving are his loving wife of 27 years, Arlene Mealey Burkhart Hickman, whom he married November 7, 1987 of the home; two sons, Billy Hickman of Hollywood, Florida and Neil (Ellen) Hickman of Barnett, MO.; two daughters, Sandy Comstock of Chesterton, Indiana and Bonita (George) Barth of Kansas City, MO; a step-son, Michael (Pam) Burkhart of Hamilton; a step-daughter, Marea (Dean) Griffith of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Dorothy (David) Deis of Blue Springs, MO., Brad Comstock of Michigan and Sara (Bill) Carr of Valparaiso, Indiana; three step-grandchildren; Doug (Abee) Burkhart of Cody, WY, Amanda( Jake) Richards of Trinway and Adam (Liz) Siddle of Zanesville; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Emmitt Hickman of Zanesville and Earl (Faye) Hickman of St. Charles, MO; and his dogs, Freckles and Precious and his loving cat, Mittens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Stoddard, 2nd wife, Marjorie Alma Lovejoy Hickman; a sister, Katherine Valentine; and two brothers, Wayne and Homer Eugene Hickman. Friends and family may call from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. A dignified cremation will be held and Ken will be buried at a later date back in his hometown of Monroe, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701, Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, OH 43701 or Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Attn: Floor Fund, 128 S. 7th Street, Zanesville, OH 43701.
