William Frank Bill Longshore, 79, felled by a massive stroke, entered into his eternal rest at 8:08 PM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital with his wife at his side. Born October 2, 1938 the eldest child of Lawrence W. and Florence Dietz Longshore, he was a 1957 graduate of Philo High School, served his country in the United States Army and drove school bus for Franklin Local School District for over thirty years, but his heart and soul were devoted to his poultry and cattle farm. Bill was a caretaker of the land, devoted to agriculture, and tireless in his efforts to make the farm stand tall. With that in mind, and in his memory, a farm trust is being established for both 1645 and 1700. He was a lifelong member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church, a seventy year member of Riverside Grange 1552, and one of the founding vendors of the Zanesville Farmers Market. Married to Patricia B. Olbrys on August 9, 1969, they had a unique and long lasting union and were a formable working team. Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother, James (Mary) Longshore; his sister Diane (Robert) Potts; numerous nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Jean Olbrys; and his feline companions, J.R., Patchy, and Puff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Stanley Olbrys. The family is ever so grateful for Bills wonderful care and treatment at Riverside Methodist Hospital Neurological Center by all the staff and their caring compassionate support during his illness to all of us. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville with Pastor Tom England officiating. Full Military Honors accorded to him by VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
