William J. Lyon

William J. Lyon, 92, of Zanesville, died at 9:28 A.M. on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at The Oaks at Bethesda, Zanesville. He was born October 12, 1925, in Ithaca, NY, a son of the late Clarence W. and Katherine Rothermich Lyon. He was in the Army Air Corp during WWII and graduated in 1952 from Cornell University with an Electrical Engineer Degree. He retired after over thirty-five years from AEP and was a member of the Euclid United Methodist Church in Zanesville. William was also a member of the Zane Trace Model Railroad Club, Zanesville Singers, and was an avid golfer. He is survived by a son, David (Colleen) Lyon; a daughter, Barbara (Patrick) Henry; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Lyon; and special family friends, Tess and Debbie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Elinor Smith Lyon, whom he married September 5, 1948 and died November 7, 2015. Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Rev. Matthew Blau officiating. He will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, NY in the Spring.
