William Bruce Montgomery, 81, of Zanesville, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born September 3, 1926, in Keyser, West Virginia, a son of the late Henry Bruce and Bertha Ravenscroft Montgomery. He was retired as Vice President of Personnel for Genesis Bethesda Hospital, was a principal and teacher in public schools, which included elementary to high school, where he coached golf, basketball and football. He was a US Navy World War II and Korean War Veteran. Mr. Montgomery was baptized in 1960 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a member of the South Congregation in Zanesville. He participated in the construction of the London, Ohio Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses as well as numerous Kingdom Halls throughout Central and Eastern Ohio. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Anna Mae Davis Montgomery, whom he married August 28, 1949, of the home; three sons, Richard B. (Patti) Montgomery of Orlando, Florida, Daniel F. (Diane) Montgomery of Delaware, Ohio and W. Roger (Mary Beth) Montgomery of Springfield, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jacob Bruce (Andrea) Montgomery of Fort Pierce, FL, Richard B. (Sheryl) Montgomery of Newark, Ohio, Deidre Montgomery of Delaware and Dielle (Paul) Westfall of Delaware, Ohio; Desiree Montgomery of Obetz and Traci L. Capparuccini of Columbus, Ohio and eight great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Charlotte June Simpson, Alta Faye Harrison and Joanne Moyer. No calling hours will be observed. A Memorial Service in celebration of his life will be held Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, South Congregation, 1705 Pine St., Zanesville and the general public is welcome.
