William Anthony “Tony” Pratt, died on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio. He was born May 4, 1950, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a son of the late William L. and Julia (Serturini) Pratt. Tony graduated from Ohio University, earning his Master’s Degree and was a teacher for 40 years at River High School and Powhatan Point Elementary School. He served two terms as the Mayor of Powhatan Point and had a green thumb for plants and enjoyed raising birds. Tony had a sweet tooth for strawberry candy and a love for Dr. Pepper.
He is survived by his brother, Richard E. “Rick” (Michelle) Pratt; a special nephew and caretaker Jeremy (Nancy) Pratt; a niece, Kristin (Ryan) Snider; two nephews, David (Jen) Pratt and Michael (Allison) Pratt; and several close friends who loved him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald “Ron” Pratt.
A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with a Private Family Celebration of Life Service to take place at a later date.
Memorial contribution can be made in Tony’s name to the Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
