William Elsworth Renaud, 82, passed away on October 20, 2024, in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born on June 12, 1942, in Gross Pointe Michigan, Bill leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Bill graduated from Gross Pointe High School and pursued higher education at Western Michigan University, where he studied Education. Later his interests turned towards hospital administration, leading to his role as Vice President of Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville Ohio from 1985 to 1992. Bill's dedication to community service continued as he worked with Children's Services in Zanesville, aiding struggling families until his retirement.
Beyond his professional life, Bill was an avid builder and craftsman. He transformed a 1970s Chevrolet mini truck into a Kenworth big rig replica -complete with the hood ornament. His love for sport shooting was equally passionate, participating in turkey shoots with a muzzleloader he built himself and cowboy competitions with revolvers using his own handmade ammunition.
Bill was a good man. He loved his wife, who always got yellow roses on their anniversary. He loved his son, who always got what he needed, be it a kind word, well-timed advice, or a generator when the power went out 200 miles away. Bill could make anyone feel comfortable, even while poking fun at them. He always made the room a little brighter.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Renaud; sister, Michel Renaud; son, Patrick Renaud and his wife, Bethany; granddaughter, Lauren Renaud; and grandson, Will Renaud.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Frances Renaud.
