William L. Smitley

William L. Smitley, 88, of Zanesville, died at 11:25 A.M. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Willow Haven Care Center, Zanesville. He was born December 11, 1929, in Zanesville, to the late Corbin and Treva Gillogly Smitley. He was Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict and retired from American Electric Power. William was a member of Brighton Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post #29, and VFW Post #1058. He is survived by two daughters, Marianne (David) Lackey and Myra (Del) Warne; a son, John (Teresa) Smitley; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Carl (Pat) Smitley, Linda Sutton, and Neil E. Smitley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Collins Smitley who died December 4, 1986. Friends and family may call from 2:00 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 30, 2018, with Rev. Suellen Skinner officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
