William F. Wagner, 82, of Zanesville, went home to be with his Lord at 1:59 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born October 4, 1928, in Pasco, Washington, the son of the late William J. and Myrtle Carr Wagner. He retired October 31, 1986, after 33 years of service as fire chief for the City of Zanesville. He was a member of the First Christian Church, FOP and the Retired Firefighters Association. He had a great love for animals. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Betty R. Clark Wagner, whom he married July 16, 1949, of the home; three daughters, Karen (Tim) Smith, Kristine (Sonny) McGaughey and Kelly Farrar, all of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Chad W. (Leann) Smith of Zanesville, Trella (Justin) Scholl of Galena, Ohio, Karri (Sam) Cronin of Zanesville and Josh Farrar of Zanesville; eight great grandchildren; and his beloved K-9 friend, Bridgette. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the First Christian Church, 3000 Dresden Rd., Zanesville with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating.
