An army brat, Ray was born on base in Wurzburg, Germany; and he grew up in East Liverpool, Ohio. He knew at a very early age that he felt the calling to become a funeral director after watching the mortician in the movie “True Grit” trying to give some comfort to a young girl suffering a loss. It was a scene that scene would not leave his head, and it proved to be the guiding direction in his life.
Ray has been a staple in the Zanesville community and surrounding area since he arrived from the State of Delaware in 2013. He began his Funeral Directing foray in 2008 after graduating Kent State University Cum Laude with a Bachelor Degree in both Psychology and Sociology. He attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
He began as an apprentice with the Pippin Funeral Home in Wyoming, Delaware and stayed until he once more felt the call of the hills, valleys, and the rivers that he’d formerly called home. Ray worked as a director in Ohio until 2020 before transitioning into life insurance which eventually led to him becoming a Broker as well. Ray belongs to multiple organizations including the Knights of Columbus, The Lions, The Ancient Order of Hibernians, among others. He is married, has five children, two of whom still live at home, and a pet dog named Murphy.
Ray is a voracious reader and an avid listener to audiobooks, so it is no surprise that he writes Fantasy, LITRPG, and horror novels in his spare time. He even hosted a dedicated podcast for Soundbooth Theater where he did skits and reviewed audiobooks. He enjoys watching his children play sports and visiting with his family when he gets a chance. He is expecting his first grandchild later this year.
